There is a different Pension Plan for policemen. Following are the pointers
1. A minimum of 10 years service is required for getting into a pension group.
2. Fifty percent of pay last drawn subject to maximum of Rs. 11, 200/- is admissible as pension.
3. There may be a case when total qualifying service falls less than 33 years. In this case the pension is reduced proportionately.
There is also a family pension that is provided for retired policemen. The normal rate is 30% of last pay drawn till death or remarriage. The enhanced rate is double the normal rate which is subject to maximum pension in case of death after retirement. There is also double the normal rate subject to a maximum of the 50 percent of pay last drawn in case of death before retirement, subject to minimum of Rupees Thirteen hundred from the date following the death of pensioner / employee for a period of seven years or till the attaining of 65 (sixty five) years of age, had he been alive, whichever is earlier.
For Gratuity the amount reckonable for gratuity is equal to the last pay plus the dearness allowance while the amount of gratuity is equal to the Amount reckonable into thirty three divided by two. The points to be noted for death gratuity are below.
1. Maximum limit is of Rs. 2, 50,000/-
2. Amount Reckonable into 33
3. In case of qualifying service falls short of 33 years, the amount will be on proportional basis.
