<p><strong>1. The life insurance cover will begin immediately on acceptance of proposal.</strong></p>
<p>After submission of the application form, if it is found that the customer has existing policies which have not been disclosed and due to which, there is a change in the underwriting decision of the Company, the Company will withdraw the cover subject to Section 45 of the Insurance Act, 1938 and below mentioned clause 1a.</p>

The maximum benefit payable on death, excluding the Accidental Death      Benefit   under ICICI Pru iCare Option II, in respect of all      policies issued on the same Life Assured will be limited to the maximum      Sum Assured applicable for this product. <p><strong>2. Tax benefits under the policy are subject to conditions u/s 80C of the Income Tax Act, 1961</strong>.</p>
<p>Service tax and education cess will be charged extra, as per applicable rates. The tax laws are subject to amendments from time to time.</p>

<p><strong>Benefits in detail</strong></p>
<p><strong>Death Benefit:</strong></p>
<p>In the unfortunate event of death of the Life Assured during the term of the policy, the nominee will receive Sum Assured (reduced by partial withdrawals) or Fund Value including the Top up Fund Value, if any, whichever is higher.</p>
<p><strong>Maturity Benefit:</strong></p>
<p>The maturity benefit is Fund Value including the Top up Fund Value, if any. The maturity benefit may be taxable as per prevailing tax laws.</p>
<p>The policyholder shall have an option to receive the Maturity Benefit as a lump sum or as structured payments, using Settlement Option facility.</p>
<p><strong>Loyalty Additions:</strong></p>
<p>A Loyalty Addition will be allocated at the end of every policy year starting from the end of the sixth policy year. The Loyalty Addition paid at the end of the year will be a percentage of the average of daily fund values in that same policy year. The Loyalty Addition will reduce the effective FMC for your policy as shown below:</p>

<p>When Mumbai-based Neeraj Bansal has heart surgery a few months ago, thought that their health coverage of Rs 3 lakh for the cost. I was wrong. His family had to arrange for an additional Rs 75,000 as the limits of the subtitles of the policy regarding your claim R 2.25 lakh.</p>
<p>It is to take care of these contingencies, financial planners stress the need to build an emergency fund. Money can be used to bridge the gap between costs incurred and the compensation paid by the insurer. &#8220;With rising medical inflation, it is important to create a fund exclusively to meet any eventuality health care,&#8221; said Pankaj Mathpal, a financial planner based in Mumbai.</p>
<p><strong>However, very few people actually do this.<br />
</strong>The good news is that some insurers are offering products that help build an emergency fund for medical expenses. After LIC, <a title="ICICI Prudential" href="http://www.bimadeals.com/life-insurance-india/icici-prudential-life-insurance.php">ICICI Prudential Life Insurance</a> and <a title="Birla Sun ife Insurance" href="http://www.bimadeals.com/life-insurance-india/birla-sun-life-insurance.php">Birla Sun Life Insurance</a>, which offer such policies, the Money Back Health plan from <a title="India First Life Insurance" href="http://www.bimadeals.com/insurance/indiafirst-life-insurance/indiafirst-life-insurance-indiafirst-life-insurance-plans/">India First Life Insurance</a> is the latest health <a title="Ulip" href="http://www.bimadeals.com/ulips-plan.php">Ulip</a> to hit the market.</p>
<p><strong>How health Ulips work:</strong><br />
A health Ulip is a combination of two insurance plans-a normal mediclaim policy and a market-linked investment plan. The mediclaim covers hospitalisation expenses, while the market-linked plan builds a corpus for you. This money can be withdrawn by the policyholder for meeting his healthcare expenses or if his mediclaim policy does not cover his hospital bill fully. As in the case of a regular Ulip, the policyholder can choose the investment option for the health Ulip premium.</p>
<p>These plans are available as individual as well as family floater policies. They are renewed annually and though the total premium remains the same, the mediclaim premium goes up even as the investment portion comes down. Some schemes like the LIC Health Plus even offer OPD cover, hospital cash and surgical benefits. The premium is tax deductible under Sections 80C and 80D.</p>
<p>The corpus created by the Ulip can also be used for treatment of diseases not covered by the mediclaim policy. For instance, if the policyholder is hospitalised for a pre-existing disease before the waiting period, the mediclaim policy will not cover the expenses. &#8220;The Ulip, however, provides a comprehensive cover to the customer by allowing reimbursement for medical expenses not covered under his health plan,&#8221; says Binay Agarwala, executive vice-president &amp; head of products, risk management and corporate strategy, ICICI Pru Life Insurance.</p>
<p>One of the reasons people don&#8217;t take <a title="Health Insurance" href="http://www.bimadeals.com/health-insurance-india/health-insurance.php"><strong>health insurance</strong></a> (or term policies) is that the absence of maturity benefit makes them feel their money is going waste. The health Ulip bypasses this problem by offering a maturity amount. The fund value is paid to the policyholder at the end of the term; if he dies before that, his nominee gets the money.</p>
<p><strong>Rules for withdrawals:</strong><br />
To make a claim, one has to provide actual bills or proof of expenses. Expectedly, there are some caveats. Most health Ulips don&#8217;t allow withdrawals in the first year. For instance, you can withdraw money from the ICICI Prudential&#8217;s Health Saver plan only after you have paid at least three years&#8217; premium. Birla Sun Life&#8217;s Saral Health Plan allows withdrawals only after five years. Also, there are caps on withdrawals.</p>
<p>In case of ICICI Prudential&#8217;s Health Saver, you can claim only 20% of the fund value in the fourth and fifth year, over and above the mediclaim cover of Rs 3 lakh. It goes up to 50% from the sixth to tenth year and you can claim the entire fund value only after the tenth year. Some health Ulips also have caps on the total claim amount. India First&#8217;s Money Back Health Ulip allows a maximum claim of five times the total sum assured during the entire term. So, if you have a cover of Rs 3 lakh, your total claim during the entire policy term cannot be more than Rs 15 lakh.</p>

<p><strong>1. Daily hospitalisation cash benefit (DHCB)</strong><strong><br />
</strong>This benefit amount is payable in the event of hospitalisation from the 1<sup>st</sup> day of hospitalisation, for each day of hospitalisation, subject to a continuous stay for minimum of 24 hours.</p>
<p><strong>2. Intensive care unit benefit (ICUB)</strong><strong><br />
</strong>This benefit amount of 1 time the DHCB is payable per day for each day in the event of hospitalisation in an concentrated care unit and in any policy year is limited to a total of 15 times the DHCB under the plan.<br />
The total DHCB and ICUB combined will be payable for a maximum of 90 days.</p>
<p><strong>3. Surgical benefit (SB)</strong><strong><br />
</strong>A fixed lump-sum amount is payable in the event of undergoing any of the more than 1000 covered surgical procedures and is paid irrespective of whether the DHCB is payable or not. In any policy year, the surgical benefit is limited to 300 times the DHCB.</p>

<p><strong>4. Non surgical benefit (NSB)</strong><strong><br />
</strong>This benefit amount is payable in the event of hospitalisation without any surgery. An extra benefit of 100(%) per cent of DHCB is payable for every day spent in the hospital up to a maximum limit of 4 times DHCB, subject to the DHCB being payable at the time of hospitalisation.</p>
<p><strong>5. Recuperating benefit</strong></p>
<p>A post-hospitalisation benefit amount of 3 times the DHCB is payable to help you with recuperating expenses like follow-up tests, medicines and consultations. Benefit amount payable for 7 or more days of continuous hospitalisation for the same injury or disease, subject to the DHCB being payable at the time of hospitalisation. This benefit is payable only if the life insured is discharged from the hospital.</p>
<p><strong>6. Prolonged stay benefit</strong></p>
<p>A long stay in the hospital can drain your savings and may even lead to loss of income. This benefit tries to lower the impact of prolonged captivity in the hospital. An additional 100% of DHCB is payable per day of continuous hospitalisation after the first 30 days up to a maximum of 60 days for the same injury or disease, subject to the DHCB being payable at the time of hospitalisation.</p>
<p><strong>7. Health check-up</strong></p>
<p>Health check-up will be available for all insured family members under the plan, once every two years after completion of the first policy year. This benefit is provided on reimbursement basis to a maximum of Rs 4,000 per policy irrespective of plan type.</p>
<p><strong>8. Optional additional daily hospitalisation benefit (ADHB):</strong></p>
<p>You have an option to increase the DHCB and ICUB payout by an additional 100% by taking up this option. This however does not change the payout limits for other benefits in the plan.
